About Fishermen on Lake Tanganyika, Bujumbura

Bujumbura, Burundi's largest city and former capital, lies at the northern tip of Lake Tanganyika, and fishing is part of everyday life here. Fishermen go out in wooden boats, often at night, using lamps to attract the small silvery sardines called ndagala, which are dried in the sun on the beaches and sold in every market. The lake's sandy beaches near the city are popular places to swim and relax, although hippos and crocodiles live in some parts. This photo shows fishermen in a wooden boat on the calm turquoise water.

Puzzle tip: start with the boat and the fishermen, then the turquoise water, and the far mountains and the sky last.
