About Ateshgah Fire Temple, Baku

The Ateshgah of Baku, in the suburb of Surakhani, is a fire temple built in the 17th and 18th centuries by Hindu and Zoroastrian traders and pilgrims who travelled along the trade routes from India. Natural gas once seeped from the ground here and fed eternal flames. Small cells where pilgrims lived line its five-sided courtyard around a central altar, whose flame is now fed by the city gas supply.

Puzzle tip: the stone altar in the middle is the key; the walls and the sky come next.
