About Potala Palace, Lhasa, Tibet

The Potala Palace rises above Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, at an altitude of about 3,700 metres. It was built in the 17th century by the Fifth Dalai Lama on the site of an earlier palace, and for three centuries it was the winter home of the Dalai Lamas and the seat of Tibetan government. Its White and Red Palaces hold more than a thousand rooms, chapels and tombs. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Puzzle tip: the white and red walls are easy to sort; the reflection mirrors the top half, so work on both together.
