About Sigiriya Rock Fortress

Sigiriya is a huge column of rock rising about 180 metres above the forests of central Sri Lanka. In the 5th century King Kashyapa built a palace on its flat summit, reached through a gateway shaped like a giant lion, of which only the stone paws remain. Its walls once held hundreds of painted maidens, and some of the frescoes survive. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Puzzle tip: the rock is the centre of the picture; the jungle around it is best sorted by shade.
