About Yasaka Pagoda, Kyoto

The five-storey Yasaka Pagoda, part of Hokan-ji temple, rises above the old streets of Higashiyama in Kyoto. It was rebuilt in 1440 and is one of the city's best-known landmarks. The sloping lanes around it are lined with traditional wooden houses, tea shops and craft stores, and many visitors stroll here in rented kimono.

Puzzle tip: the pagoda and the rooftops frame the picture; the street and the people come next.
