About Church of São Francisco, Salvador

Salvador was Brazil's first capital, and its hilltop old town, the Pelourinho, is full of colourful colonial houses and baroque churches. The Church and Convent of São Francisco, finished in the 18th century, is famous for an interior covered in gilded wood carving and blue and white Portuguese tiles. The historic centre of Salvador is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Puzzle tip: the golden church front is the centre; the coloured houses beside it and the blue sky come next.
