About Angkor Wat and Its Moat from Above

Angkor Wat is the largest religious monument in the world. It was built in the first half of the twelfth century by King Suryavarman II and was first dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu, before becoming a Buddhist temple. The temple is surrounded by a moat about 190 metres wide and more than five kilometres around, and its five towers are meant to stand for the peaks of Mount Meru, the home of the gods. Unusually for Angkor, it faces west. Angkor Wat appears on the flag of Cambodia. This aerial photo shows the temple inside its square of water and forest.

Puzzle tip: start with the straight lines of the moat, then fill the temple in the middle and the forest around it.
