About Art Nouveau Houses on the Brosundet, Ålesund

In January 1904 a fire destroyed almost the whole centre of Ålesund, a fishing town on the west coast of Norway, leaving about ten thousand people homeless. The town was rebuilt in just three years in stone and brick, in the Art Nouveau style popular at the time, with towers, turrets and decorations of dragons and flowers. The German Kaiser Wilhelm II, who loved Norway, sent ships with building materials and help. In this photo the colourful façades along the Brosundet, the narrow channel in the heart of the town, are mirrored in the still water.

Puzzle tip: start with the red and white houses, then their reflections in the water, and finish with the sky.
