About Belogradchik Rocks

The Belogradchik Rocks rise near the town of the same name in northwestern Bulgaria. Erosion has shaped the red sandstone and conglomerate into towers, walls and isolated pillars. A historic fortress uses some of the rock faces as natural defences. The formations look different as the sun moves and shadows cross their uneven surfaces. This photograph shows the rocks beneath a changing sky, giving you strong outlines and many shades of stone to match. Build the tallest formations first and use their gaps to place the surrounding landscape.

Puzzle tip: build the tall rock shapes first, then match the smaller ridges and clouds.
