About Blue Hole in the Forest, Vanuatu

Blue holes are deep pools of fresh water that rise from underground springs through porous limestone, and Vanuatu's best-known ones are on the island of Espiritu Santo. The water is filtered so well by the rock that it is almost perfectly clear, and its colour changes from bright blue to green as the light moves. Many blue holes have a rope swing hanging from an overhanging tree, and visitors often reach them by kayak along small rivers. This photo shows a still turquoise pool at the foot of dense green forest, with a rope hanging over the water.

Puzzle tip: start with the rope and the edge of the forest, then fill the turquoise water, keeping the darker bands together.
