About Byodo-In Temple, Oʻahu

The Byodo-In Temple stands at the foot of the steep, green Koʻolau Mountains in the Valley of the Temples on Oʻahu. It was built in 1968 to mark 100 years since the first Japanese immigrants arrived in Hawaii, and it is a smaller copy of the 11th-century Byōdō-in in Uji, Japan. Its red halls are reflected in a pond full of koi carp, and visitors ring a large bronze bell for good luck.

Puzzle tip: the red temple and its reflection are the centre; the green mountains come next.
