About Dublin Castle

Dublin Castle was the seat of English and later British rule in Ireland for more than 700 years, until it was handed over to the new Irish government in 1922. Only the round Record Tower survives from the medieval fortress; most of the rest was rebuilt as elegant Georgian state apartments. Today it is used for state ceremonies, including the inauguration of the President of Ireland.

Puzzle tip: the round tower is the easiest shape; the long building and the lawn come next.
