About Fishermen off the Coast of Monrovia

The waters off Liberia are rich in fish, and thousands of small-scale fishermen work along the coast in wooden canoes, many of them from the Fanti and Kru peoples, long famous as skilled seamen. The Kru once worked as sailors on European ships all along the West African coast. Fishing canoes set out from Monrovia's beaches early each morning and come back by afternoon with their catch of bonga, grouper and snapper. This photo shows fishermen steering a wooden boat across the sea off the coast of Monrovia.

Puzzle tip: start with the boat and the fishermen, then the waves around them, and the sky last.
