About Fishing Village on the Liberian Coast

Liberia has about 580 kilometres of Atlantic coastline, lined with sandy beaches, lagoons and fishing villages. Early in the morning, fishermen push their wooden canoes out through the surf, and when they return the whole village helps to pull the boats up the beach and sort the catch, which is smoked, dried or sold fresh at the market. Inland, Liberia holds a large share of the Upper Guinean rainforest, home to forest elephants, chimpanzees and the rare pygmy hippopotamus. This photo shows a busy fishing village on the shore, with people on the sand beside traditional wooden canoes.

Puzzle tip: start with the canoes and the people on the sand, then the trees and the houses, and the sky last.
