About Gergeti Trinity Church, Kazbegi

Gergeti Trinity Church stands alone on a hill at about 2,170 metres above the village of Stepantsminda, in the Greater Caucasus mountains of northern Georgia. It was built in the 14th century, and in times of war precious relics from the old capital, Mtskheta, were brought here for safety. Above it rises Mount Kazbek, an extinct volcano of 5,047 metres. Today a steep path and a mountain road lead up to the church, one of the most photographed places in Georgia.

Puzzle tip: the church on the hill is the key piece; the mountains and the rays of light come next.
