About Golden Vineyard in Autumn, Kelowna

The Okanagan Valley around Kelowna, in the dry interior of British Columbia, is one of Canada's main wine regions, with about 200 wineries along a chain of long lakes. Hot summers, cool nights and sandy soil left by glaciers help grapes ripen this far north, and the valley also grows apples, cherries and peaches. In autumn, after the harvest, the vine leaves turn yellow and gold, and in cold winters some grapes are left on the vines to freeze for icewine, a sweet wine for which Canada is famous. In this photo rows of golden vines stretch toward the hills.

Puzzle tip: start with the gold leaves and the dark trunks of the vines, then the green grass, and finish with the hazy hills.
