About Green Vervet Monkey on Nevis

Green vervet monkeys are not native to the Caribbean: they were brought from West Africa in the 17th century, probably as pets, and escaped into the forests of Saint Kitts and Nevis. With no natural predators, they thrived, and today there are tens of thousands of them, often said to be more than the islands' human population. Farmers are less fond of them, as they raid crops.

Puzzle tip: the monkey is the centre; the rocks and the green leaves need patience.
