About Mount Aureol and Freetown from Above

Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone, climbs the green hills of a mountainous peninsula above one of the largest natural harbours in the world. It was founded in 1792 as a home for freed slaves, among them Black Loyalists from Nova Scotia who had fought for Britain in the American War of Independence, and its name still recalls that hope of freedom. On Mount Aureol, above the city, stands Fourah Bay College, founded in 1827 and the oldest Western-style university in West Africa. This aerial photo shows the slopes of Mount Aureol covered with colourful houses and green trees.

Puzzle tip: start with the colourful roofs and walls, then the green trees, and the hills and the sky last.
