About Old Montreal

Montreal was founded in 1642 as the small mission of Ville-Marie on an island in the St. Lawrence River, and today it is one of the largest French-speaking cities in the world. In Old Montreal, stone buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries line narrow cobbled streets, and café tables fill the pavements in summer, not far from the Notre-Dame Basilica.

Puzzle tip: the café umbrellas and the flags are the key; the stone walls come next.
