About Painted House in Bridgetown, Barbados

Barbados is known for its chattel houses, small wooden homes painted in bright colours. They were first built by workers on the sugar plantations who did not own the land they lived on, so the houses stood on loose blocks and could be taken apart and moved when the family moved. Many still stand in Bridgetown and around the island, often with added verandas, shutters and fretwork.

Puzzle tip: the blue walls and the purple door are the key; the roof and the sky come next.
