About Palm Shadows on a Hawaiian Beach

Seen from straight above, coconut palms on a Hawaiian beach cast long shadows across the white sand, while the water turns from turquoise to deep blue. Hawaii's beaches come in many colours: white sand made of coral and shells, black sand made of lava broken up by the waves, and even green sand from a volcanic crystal called olivine. Under Hawaiian law almost every beach is open to the public, right up to the line where the vegetation begins.

Puzzle tip: the turquoise water on the right is the easiest part; the palm shadows are next, and the plain sand is best left for last.
