About Pools of Semuc Champey

Semuc Champey, in the forested hills of Alta Verapaz, is a natural limestone bridge about 300 metres long, with a staircase of turquoise pools on top. The Cahabón River rushes into a tunnel underneath the bridge, while calmer water flows over it from pool to pool. Its name in the Maya language Q'eqchi' is usually translated as the place where the river hides under the earth.

Puzzle tip: sort the turquoise pools from the green forest; the curved edges of the pools help pieces fit.
