About Prairie at Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, Alberta

Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, in the foothills of southern Alberta, is one of the oldest and best kept places in the world where people hunted bison by driving them over a cliff. For about 6,000 years the Blackfoot and earlier peoples of the plains guided herds along lines of stone piles to the edge, then used the meat, hides and bones to live through the winter. Its name comes from a Blackfoot story about a young man who watched the hunt from under the cliff and was crushed. It became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981. This photo looks from the sandstone cliff over the wide prairie.

Puzzle tip: start with the rocks at the front and the white clouds, then the long lines of the prairie, and finish with the blue sky.
