About Red and Gold Trees in Grands-Jardins National Park

Red maples and golden birches fill Grands-Jardins National Park, in the Charlevoix region of Quebec, Canada, in fall colours season. The park is known for its taiga, a landscape of black spruce, lichen and open rock that usually grows much further north. A herd of caribou was brought back to the area in the 1960s and 1970s, after the animals had disappeared from it. In this photo bright red and orange leaves glow between slender white birch trunks, with yellow trees behind them.

Puzzle tip: start with the white birch trunks, then the red leaves in the middle, and finish with the yellow trees around the edges.
