About Red Dunes of Sossusvlei, Namibia

The dunes around Sossusvlei, in the Namib Desert, are among the tallest in the world; some rise more than 300 metres. Their deep red-orange colour comes from iron oxide coating the sand, which is millions of years old. The Namib is thought to be the oldest desert on Earth and is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Puzzle tip: the sharp line between the sunlit and shaded sides of the dune is the key; the sky comes last.
