About Roman Theatre of Plovdiv from Above

The Roman Theatre of Philippopolis, as Plovdiv was called in Roman times, was built in the late first or early second century AD on the slope between two of the city's hills. It could seat several thousand spectators in its curved rows of marble seats, facing a two-storey stage building with columns. For centuries it lay buried, until a landslide in the 1960s revealed part of it, and archaeologists then dug it out and restored it. Today it is used again for concerts, opera and festivals. The aerial photo shows the white semicircle of seats among the city's buildings.

Puzzle tip: start with the white curved rows of seats, then fill the stage and the rooftops and trees around.
