About The Rock of the Virgin, Biarritz

The Rocher de la Vierge, or Rock of the Virgin, is a rocky islet just off the centre of Biarritz, topped by a white statue of the Virgin Mary placed there in 1865. Legend says that whalers caught in a storm were guided safely back to shore by a mysterious light shining from the rock. An iron footbridge, built in 1887 by the company of Gustave Eiffel, links it to the mainland, and in rough weather the waves crash right over it. In this photo the rock, with its tunnel arch, the statue and the white footbridge, stands in a calm sea at low tide.

Puzzle tip: start with the rock and the white statue, then the footbridge, and finish with the sea and the pale sky.
