About Zebras at a Waterhole, Makueni County

Makueni County lies in the dry country of south-eastern Kenya, between the Kenyan highlands and Tsavo. Its southern part includes the Chyulu Hills, a young range of volcanic cones and lava flows covered with grassland and cloud forest; rain that falls on them seeps through the porous rock and feeds the Mzima Springs in Tsavo West. Plains zebras need to drink almost every day, so in the dry season they gather at waterholes, alert for lions while they drink. This photo shows a herd of zebras lined up at the edge of a waterhole.

Puzzle tip: start with the black and white stripes of the zebras, then fill the water and the dry land around it.
