About Zion Canyon from Above

Zion Canyon, in south-western Utah, was cut by the North Fork of the Virgin River into layers of Navajo Sandstone, the remains of ancient sand dunes. The canyon is about 24 kilometres long and in places up to 800 metres deep. Zion became Utah's first national park in 1919, and its trails climb to high viewpoints such as Angels Landing and Observation Point. This photo looks down the canyon from a high trail, with red and cream cliffs on both sides and green trees on the canyon floor.

Puzzle tip: build the bright red rock in the foreground first, then follow the canyon walls into the distance.
