Knowing a country’s name is one thing; finding it on the map is another. Many people can point to Brazil or Australia but hesitate between Slovakia and Slovenia, or Niger and Nigeria. This quiz names a country and you click or tap it on the map. Drag the map to move it, and zoom in with the buttons, the mouse wheel or two fingers.
Very small countries are drawn as dots so you can still find them, and a tap close enough to a tiny island nation counts. Every country you find turns green, so by the end of a round the map fills in, and the ones you missed are shown in red. Stuck? The hint button first zooms in on the right area, then marks four countries, one of them the answer; a wrong tap gets a second try. A country found with help, or on the second try, is worth half a point.
Oceania is mostly ocean: apart from Australia, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand, its countries are groups of islands scattered across the Pacific, and most are drawn as dots. Zoom in north and east of Australia to find them. Samoa and Tonga lie across the date line, at the far left edge of this map, so they are only in the world quiz.
