About Aruba
The island's history includes Indigenous Caribbean communities, Dutch rule, gold mining and oil refining. In 1986 Aruba gained separate status within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Tourism later became a major part of its economy, while Papiamento and Dutch remain part of everyday life.
Assemble painted streets in Oranjestad, a wind-shaped tree at Eagle Beach, a natural rock arch, waves breaking against stone and cacti on a cliff. These scenes show how varied a small Caribbean island can be.
