El Capitolio and Classic Cars, Havana
Old Havana is a World Heritage Site of colonial squares, fortresses and brightly painted buildings. On its streets, American cars from the 1950s, lovingly repaired for decades, still work as taxis, often parked in front of El Capitolio, the domed building that once housed the parliament.
In the west, the Viñales Valley is dotted with steep limestone hills called mogotes rising above tobacco fields. Varadero offers a long stretch of white sand on the north coast, and in Cienfuegos, the Palacio de Valle mixes Moorish, Gothic and Venetian styles.
