Fiji Puzzles

Fiji is an island nation in the South Pacific, made up of more than 330 islands, of which about a third are lived on. Our Fiji puzzles show its calm lagoons, coconut palms and the warm, clear water of its coral coasts.

About Fiji

Most people live on the two largest islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, and the capital, Suva, lies on Viti Levu. Visitors are greeted with the word bula, which means both hello and life, and often with a bowl of kava, a drink made from the root of a pepper plant and shared in a traditional ceremony. Fiji's reefs are so rich in soft corals that divers call it the soft coral capital of the world, and its rugby sevens team won the country's first Olympic gold medal in 2016.

The 180th meridian, opposite Greenwich, runs right across the island of Taveuni, but the International Date Line bends around Fiji so that the whole country shares one date. Most Fijians are either indigenous Fijians or Indo-Fijians, whose ancestors came from India from 1879 to work on the sugar plantations, and the islands were a British colony until independence in 1970.

Newer puzzles head out to the Yasawa Islands: the grassy hills of Yasawa Island, the beach on Nanuya Island near the Blue Lagoon, Oarsman's Bay on Nacula and a sunrise on Kuata. They also show a sandbar in a turquoise lagoon, a fishing boat below volcanic peaks and the soft corals of the Rainbow Reef in the Somosomo Strait.
