About Palm-Fringed Beach, Bora Bora

Coconut palms line almost every beach in Bora Bora, leaning out over the white sand. For centuries the coconut palm gave Polynesians nearly everything they needed: food and drink from its nuts, leaves for roofs and baskets, and fibre for strong ropes. Dried coconut flesh, called copra, is still made on many islands of French Polynesia. The sand of these beaches comes from broken coral and shells, which is why it is so white.

Puzzle tip: the white beach makes a clear line across the picture; the palm trunks and the green hill come next.
