About Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens, Vienna

Schönbrunn Palace was the summer residence of the Habsburg rulers in Vienna. Maria Theresa had the palace remodelled in the eighteenth century, while her husband, Francis Stephen, helped shape its gardens. The long formal garden gives a clear view of the palace façade from the hill above it. The grounds opened to the public around 1779 and are still used for walks today. Both the palace and its gardens were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996.

Puzzle tip: start with the long cream palace façade, then follow the straight garden paths and rows of trees.
