Austria is a mountainous country in the heart of Europe, famous for the Alps, its lakes and a long tradition of music. Our Austria puzzles visit Hallstatt, a lakeside village in the Salzkammergut region.
The Alps cover about two thirds of the country, and its lakes are clear enough to drink from in many places. For centuries Austria was the centre of the Habsburg empire, and Vienna, its capital, was home to composers such as Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven and Schubert. In Hallstatt, salt has been mined in the mountain for some 7,000 years, and the village's wooden houses crowd along the shore of its lake.
Each puzzle has a short text about the place, so you can learn a little about Austria while you put the pieces together.
