About Taiyu-in Temple, Nikko

Taiyu-in in Nikko is the mausoleum of Tokugawa Iemitsu, the third Tokugawa shogun, completed in 1653. Out of respect for his grandfather Ieyasu, who is enshrined at the nearby Toshogu, Iemitsu asked that his own resting place be less grand, but its halls and gates are still covered in black lacquer, gold leaf and bright carvings. Together with Toshogu and Futarasan Shrine it is a World Heritage Site. Here one of its richly decorated halls stands among tall cedar trees.

Puzzle tip: start with the gold and red carvings under the roof, then the black roof itself, and finish with the cedar trunks.
