About The Orangery Gardens of Versailles

Below the south terrace of the palace lies the Orangery, built in the 1680s by the architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart. In winter its long vaulted halls shelter more than a thousand orange, lemon, palm and pomegranate trees growing in wooden boxes, some of them two hundred years old. In summer the trees are carried outside and set around the parterre, a garden of lawns and clipped box hedges with a round pool in the middle. Beyond it lies the Swiss Lake, dug by a regiment of the king's Swiss Guards. This photo shows the whole garden under a sky full of clouds.

Puzzle tip: start with the curving hedges in the front, then the round pool and the trees, and finish with the lake and the clouds.
