About The Aiguille du Dru above Chamonix

The Aiguille du Dru is one of the most striking peaks above the Chamonix valley, a sharp tower of granite that rises to about 3,750 metres beside the Mer de Glace glacier. Its sheer faces have tempted climbers for more than a century, and several famous routes were first climbed there, including a daring solo ascent by the Italian Walter Bonatti in 1955. In 2005 a huge rockfall removed a large part of its west face. In this photo the pointed summit stands above a jagged ridge of snow and rock under a deep blue sky.

Puzzle tip: start with the sharp summit and the rocky ridge, then the snowy slopes, and finish with the deep blue sky.
