About Trolltunga and the Mountains of Hardanger

Seen from the side, Trolltunga looks like a diving board hanging over a vast mountain valley. In summer the trail is busy from early morning, and people wait their turn to walk out onto the tongue for a photo, while in winter the route is covered in deep snow and only guided groups go there. The plateau around it is wild, with bare rock, small lakes and old snow even in August. The valley below was filled by ice in the last ice age, which carved the steep walls you see today. In this photo the ledge stands out against a wide view of cliffs, the lake and distant snowy peaks.

Puzzle tip: start with the rock ledge on the left, then the cliffs across the valley, and finish with the lake and the sky.
