About Old Sugar Shack in the Snow, Quebec

Quebec produces about 70 percent of the world's maple syrup, and every spring families head to the cabane à sucre, the sugar shack in the maple woods. When nights are still freezing but days rise above zero, sap begins to flow in the sugar maples; it is collected and boiled for hours in the shack until about 40 litres of sap become one litre of syrup, and the steam pours out through the vents in the roof. In this photo an old wooden sugar shack with a red door stands among bare maple trunks in melting snow.

Puzzle tip: start with the weathered boards and the red door, then the bare tree trunks, and finish with the snow and the sky.
