About Autumn River in the Cape Breton Highlands

Fall colours fill a river valley in the highlands of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, one of the best places to see the fall foliage on the Atlantic coast of Canada. The Cape Breton Highlands National Park, created in 1936, was the first national park in Atlantic Canada, and the Cabot Trail road loops around it between mountains and sea. In early October its hardwood forests of maple, birch and beech turn red and gold, and the island holds a music festival, Celtic Colours, named after the season and the Scottish roots of many islanders. In this photo a calm river flows over reddish stones between steep slopes of orange, red and green trees.

Puzzle tip: start with the reddish stones in the river, then the steep orange slopes, and finish with the smooth water and the grey sky.
