About Skating on Frozen Lake Louise

Every winter Lake Louise, in Banff National Park, freezes solid, and a skating rink is cleared on the ice in front of the Fairmont Château Lake Louise hotel, below the Victoria Glacier. It is often called one of the most beautiful skating rinks in the world, and in January the lake also hosts an ice sculpture festival, Ice Magic. Outdoor skating is part of everyday life in Canada, where many towns flood their parks to make rinks and children learn to skate and play hockey almost as soon as they can walk. In this photo skaters and wooden benches dot the white ice below steep snowy mountains.

Puzzle tip: begin with the skaters and the benches on the ice, then the dark mountain slopes, and finish with the glacier and the sky.
