About Lake Oeschinen above Kandersteg

Lake Oeschinen, or Oeschinensee, lies at about 1,580 metres above the village of Kandersteg, in a bowl of steep cliffs beneath the glaciers of the Blüemlisalp. It was formed thousands of years ago when great landslides blocked the valley, and it is fed by streams of meltwater, which give it its deep blue-green colour. A gondola carries visitors most of the way up. In winter the lake freezes over and is used for ice skating and ice fishing.

Puzzle tip: the blue lake is the easiest part to gather; the pale cliffs and the dark fir trees need more patience.
