About Green Hills near Sulaymaniyah

Sulaymaniyah lies in the foothills of the Zagros Mountains in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, close to the border with Iran. The city was founded in 1784 by Ibrahim Pasha Baban, a Kurdish prince, and has long been known as a centre of Kurdish poetry and culture. After the winter rains, the hills around it turn bright green and are covered with wild flowers in spring, when families come out for picnics during the Kurdish New Year, Newroz. Later in the summer the same slopes dry to gold.

Puzzle tip: the green hills are best sorted by their light and shade; the sky and the far mountains come last.
