About Beaver in the Snow, Canada

The beaver is the national animal of Canada and appears on the five-cent coin. In the 17th and 18th centuries the trade in beaver furs, used to make felt hats in Europe, drew French and British traders deep into the continent and shaped the early history of the country; the Hudson's Bay Company, founded in 1670 for this trade, is one of the oldest companies in the world. Beavers cut down trees with their sharp orange teeth and build dams and lodges that create ponds for many other animals. In this photo a beaver with thick wet fur rests on the snow among dry grass.

Puzzle tip: begin with the beaver's dark eye and wet brown fur, then the dry grass, and finish with the white snow.
