About Calton Hill, Edinburgh

Calton Hill rises at the east end of Edinburgh's New Town and offers one of the best views over the city. Its round, columned Dugald Stewart Monument, built in 1831 in honour of a philosopher, frames the view towards the Old Town and the castle. The hill is dotted with other monuments too, including an unfinished copy of the Parthenon, which helped earn the city the nickname Athens of the North.

Puzzle tip: the round monument is the obvious place to start; the rooftops behind it are best done in small groups.
