About Boat through Ratargul Swamp Forest, Sylhet

Ratargul, in the Sylhet region of north-east Bangladesh, is one of the few freshwater swamp forests left in the country. During the monsoon, from about June to September, the rivers overflow and the water rises several metres around the trunks, so the only way through the forest is by small wooden boat. In the dry season the water drains away and the forest floor can be walked on again. Many birds, snakes and monkeys live among the trees, which are adapted to standing in water for months.

Puzzle tip: the boat and the reflections help to place the middle; the many green leaves are easier once the trunks are in.
