About Kuressaare Castle, Saaremaa

Kuressaare Castle stands on Saaremaa, Estonia’s largest island. The medieval fortress was built for the bishops of Ösel-Wiek and is surrounded by a moat and grassy grounds. Its remarkably intact walls now house a museum devoted to the island’s history and nature. This photograph shows the castle and its reflection beside the tree-lined moat. It is often called the best-preserved medieval castle in the Baltic states.

Puzzle tip: find the fortress walls above the water before assembling their reflection.
