About Rundāle Palace in Winter

Rundāle Palace lies in southern Latvia near the Lithuanian border. Designed in the eighteenth century by Bartolomeo Rastrelli, it was a residence of the dukes of Courland. Restored rooms and formal gardens reveal the scale of the estate, while its long facade makes a strong outline even in winter. The photograph shows the palace above snow-covered grounds under a blue sky. Rastrelli, who designed it, also built the Winter Palace in Saint Petersburg.

Puzzle tip: build the palace roof and windows before tackling the broad snowfield.
